Our Care
Meals you look forward to
Support with cooking and eating well at home across Newcastle, North Tyneside and North Shields, built around the food you like and the routine you are used to.

Food is about more than nutrition
When cooking becomes tiring or unsafe, meals often shrink to toast and biscuits. That affects energy, mood and health, and it takes away one of the pleasures of the day.
Our carers prepare food you actually want to eat, the way you have always had it. You choose the meals, and where you would like to stay involved you can peel, stir and supervise while the carer does the lifting and the clearing up.
What meal support can include
- Preparing breakfast, lunch and evening meals
- Cooking from fresh or heating prepared food safely
- Making drinks and encouraging fluids
- Preparing snacks to leave for later
- Following dietary needs set out in your care plan
- Help to sit comfortably and eat at your own pace
- Washing up and clearing away
- Checking the fridge and cupboards and adding to the shopping list
Where shopping is also part of your support, carers can pick up ingredients locally so the fridge is stocked with things you enjoy.
How meal support works
- Step 01
Talking about food
We ask what you like, what you never want to see again, and how meals have always fitted into your day.
- Step 02
Noting dietary needs
Any dietary requirements, allergies or advice from health professionals are recorded in your care plan.
- Step 03
Cooking with you
Visits are timed around your usual mealtimes, and you stay as involved in the kitchen as you want to be.
- Step 04
Keeping an eye on things
Carers note if appetite changes and let the office know so we can raise it with you and your family.
Common questions
Can you cater for special diets?
We can follow dietary needs and any guidance recorded in your care plan, such as advice from a GP or dietitian. We do not provide clinical dietary advice ourselves.
Can carers cook my own recipes?
Yes, and most people prefer it that way. Family recipes and long standing favourites are exactly the sort of thing we want to keep going.
Can meals be prepared in advance?
Carers can prepare food to be stored safely for later in the day, and can leave snacks and drinks within easy reach.
